I spent this New Year’s Eve with friends in Beyoğlu, Istanbul at the Restaurant Zarifi. The service was very obliging and they prepared a special vegetarian menu for me. The evening started with a glass of champagne with pomegranate seeds and different appetizers.
This was an extra plate prepared for me with vegetable yogurt (sebzeli haydari), bean stew (barbunya pilaki), eggplants with honey (ballı patlıcan) and a chickpea pâté (topik).
As a main course I had mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables (carrots, zucchini, cauliflower and pepper) which was very tasty and perfectly seasoned.
As a dessert we had quince dessert (ayva tatlısı), but because of the bad lighting conditions I couldn’t take a picture.
The entertainment for the whole evening was great. There were three female and one male belly dancer (here you can find an article about male belly dancing in Turkey) , a drumming group and mostly Turkish music, which was great for dancing.
The atmosphere was frolicsome and we danced a lot. With the following video I would like to give a little impression of the spirit of the evening:
The address of the restaurant is: Katip Çelebi Mh., Çukurlu Çeşme Sokak No:13, Beyoğlu, Turkey.
And here you can find the location of the Restaurant, use the menu for a better orientation:
How did you spent New Year’s Eve?
