{Istanbul & Markets} Weekly Markets in Istanbul

[ENG] I already wrote two blog posts about weekly markets in Istanbul (Autumn and Winter version) und I would like to tell you more about weekly markets and why The Grand Bazaar is not my favorite! With this blog post I’m participating in the blog event whose theme is markets form all over the world.

{Shopping} Vegan shop in Istanbul

Last weekend I visited the Vegan Dükkan a vegan shop in Istanbul, a really nice, little shop located in Cihangir. They have organic and vegan products, not only food products but also many cosmetic products and cleaning supplies.

In the beginning of the year I discovered this shop and it is a good place for me to buy special vegan products, that I can’t find in a normal supermarket. The shop owner is helpful and also speaks English.

And now I want to show you some picture I took:

{Shopping} Visiting the Kayseri Days

Feshane

On the 11th of October, I visited the Kayseri Günleri (Kayseri Days) in Feshane, Eyüp. Feshane is a complex with exhibition halls on the coast of Golden Horn. Many provinces of Turkey choose this complex to promote tourism in their regions. Feshane has a changing schedule, and nearly every week you can witness a city promoting its culture. If you are interested in the local culture and cuisine, it’s a great chance to get to know different provinces without leaving Istanbul. You can follow up the schedule from this website: http://www.feshane.com.tr/tr/etkinlikler1.html

{Istanbul & Markets} A Day At The Sunday Market in Autumn

In my last post I told you about the weekly market in my neighborhood, Mecidiyeköy. Today, I want to share some pictures I took at my last visit. You can find these weekly markets in most of the neighborhoods in Istanbul.

Maybe 5 minutes from my flat there is a market every Sunday, where you can’t only buy fresh vegetables and fruits, but also dairy products, eggs, legumes, nuts, dried fruits, spices, kitchen tools and even clothes. It’s my favorite place to buy vegetables, fruits and dairy products, because they’re always fresh, from local farmers and you can find seasonal variations.
